In 1992, together with Yoshiharu Tsukamo-to, Kaijima founded Atelier Bow-Wow, an exceptional architectural practice known for proposing alternative ways of making architecture that focus on social effects. In 2002, Atelier Bow-Wow was awarded the Wolf Prize for Architecture.

Hugh has led the Centre for Liveable Cities since 2020. Prior to joining CLC, Hugh was the CEO of the Building & Construction Authority (BCA), where he was actively involved in developing the latest iteration of the Singapore Green Building Masterplan, a key component of the Singapore Green Plan 2030. Hugh has previously served as the Deputy Secretary (Community, Youth and Sports) at the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth, and as Deputy Secretary, Ministry of Law.

Before becoming mayor, he held several public offices mainly related to regional and urban planning and management as well as private sector posts.

Pierre de Meuron studied architecture at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETHZ) with Aldo Rossi and Dolf Schnebli from 1970 to 1975. Together with Jacques Herzog, he established Herzog & de Meuron in Basel in 1978. He has been visiting professor at Harvard University, USA since 1989, and was professor at ETH Zürich and co-founder of ETH Studio Basel – Contemporary City Institute, from 1999 until 2018. Pierre de Meuron and Jacques Herzog were awarded the Pritzker Architecture Prize (2001), the RIBA Royal Gold Medal (UK, 2007), the Praemium Imperiale (Japan, 2007), and the Mies Crown Hall Americas Prize (USA, 2014). In 2015, they co-founded the charitable foundation “Jacques Herzog und Pierre de Meuron Kabinett, Basel.
